When the rubber hits the road ...

< Newer | Older >

Time can be a best friend, or a worst enemy!

In this case it hasn't been most amiable, or maybe it is I that have been the culprit for wasting too much of this precious commodity. As I write I am still unpacked, yet leave in 12 hours. I am indeed on the leading edge of a tornado, with the fearsome tail that wreaks most havoc yet to come. I will make this short as I do need to get organized (ha, what's that?) and get my stuff together. I just want to send out a humongous (is this a word) thanks to all those that have sent warm thoughts, words of wisdom, and prayers. I have never felt so loved. I am indeed very blesed to have such great friends, family, and colleagues. The last few days of media coverage have generated alot of public awareness through local and national articles, and I can only hope that this will direct attention to my cause, nursing! Please direct as many as you can to the information on the summit scholarship ... a link is on my website at: www.Amercan.us

I depart on 3/28 for Chicago, then Delhi, India. I arrive in Kathmandu on 3/31. There is a 10 hr. difference in Kathmandu (12 midnight east coast / 10am Kathmandu ... next day) so expect some slight delays in getting news back and forth inititially. I may not be able to visit the blog until Kathmandu, but will do my best to play catch up once there.

Again, thanks for all your support and I look forward to sharing the adventure.

Adventure Time

Hey Ann & Graham:

I am still trying to get organized, and out the door. Take care and will communicate again soon.

Somehow it will get done!

The best of the best to you, Patrick. You have many friends, old and new, supporting you each step of the way. When you get on that plane, you can breathe again! And maybe get a little shut eye too!

I didn't get a chance to say farewell yesterday! Hope the flights go just fine today and through the wee hours of tomorrow- you don't have to go through security with the crampons right?

You're on the University's homepage today...that was cool to see. Hope you are very well, take care, and we'll be in touch.

p.s. Here's some Bob Seger lyrics:

Thats why Im going to katmandu.
Up to the mountains where Im going to.
And if I ever get out of here,
Thats what Im gonna do.

Good Luck!

Gee, I already miss "running into" you in the hall. It doesn't get much more literal than that, I suppose. Try to get a little rest before you have to get into the adrenaline-only mode. Godspeed Pat!
