I'm a lecturer in information systems management at Swinburne University in Melbourne. I'm particularly interested in the effect of the Internet on expedition communication. This was the focus of my PhD research. As part of my research I sailed around the world in 2003-4. You can read about that voyage here: http://www.savethealbatross.org
My interest in ocean voyaging began in my teens and then in 1973-4 I sailed a 21ft engineless sailing boat across the Atlantic and much of the Pacific. Back in those days we had no means of long distance communication on the boat at all. You can read about that voyage here:

There have been lots of trips since.
These days I'm enjoying working with Paul and Fi on MyEverest and seeing the Internet being effectively used to enable people all over the world to share in and be participants in their own way in amazing expeditions. Am I aiming for Everest myself? No way. Another voyage? Maybe.
