Rick here- 10:35 am in Africa, back in base camp.
Be sure to listen to the audio blog. I says it much better then I can here. First all are safe. Second, this was an exceptional group. Esther made it to over 16,000 feet. The rest of the group all reached the rim and most reached the actual summit. Everyone is sleeping now. We left before midnight. Many have told me this was the hardest thing they have ever done. The heart this group had was truly worthy of the name "Inspiration"
This will be our last post. On Monday afternoon here before our feast of roast goat, there will be time for many to respond to your blogs. That will be very early morning your time. After that we will be heading home, on safari or bringing school supplies to Bulati (see Matters that Matter on www.packpaddleski.com) I will let your loved ones tell you how much your words of support have meant.
If you know anyone who would like to join us next year, be sure to drop us an email.
I now release your friends and loved ones back into your hands. Warning, they have all been changed to some degree by this adventure.
Email me at info@packpaddleski.com anytime with thoughts or to share and adventure with me. Thank you for allowing me to be touched deeply by this group.

When listening to the audios it really gives me a feel of how this group has really come together as a family during the adventure. I am sure that you will never forget this womderful adventure of your life. You set your mind to it and you were able to do it. Everyday the patients have been asking "where is the good doctor now?" They are all very proud of you as well as all of your staff and their families are proud of you. Have a safe trip on the descent.

Visitor — Tue, 03/04/2008 - 05:14Mom,
We are doing well. We both feel pretty good today.(Tuesday Morning) I have to say I am pretty proud of Tom and I, it was by far the hardest thing I have ever done. I was told that it was 75% mental and 25% physical. I have to say it was about 85% mental an 15% physical. I talk to daddy all the way up! I knew he would not let me down and would watch over me to make sure nothing would happen to us. I hope all is well on the home front. I miss you and can't wait to tell you all the stories.
I love you

JEMStager — Sun, 03/02/2008 - 13:40Rick, many thanks for taking care of 2 of my most precious gifts. They are amazing men and I welcome them back with loving arms. Thank you for this wonderful adventure. It has truely been the journey over this last year, the friendships that have been made, the working together and loving concern for each other that allowed them to accomplish their goal. I believe these relationships will continue beyond base camp too. Thank you!
Chris and Carroll, you both know how proud I am, especially today as I welcomed the sun rise and knew that you both welcomed it first on the other side of the world. I am so happy for you and can't wait to hear all the stories. Hearing Bonnie being so short of breath was so humbling. I am so glad that you were all able to keep breathing!! Did you see me waving from the deck? I jumped quite high and waved!! I know that you both felt all the love and prayers that was sent last night. I pray that the Lord will bless you both with well deserved rest and a very safe trip down His awesome mountain. I am off to church now to share your good news. I look forward to hearing from you when possible....I love you very very much. God continue to be with you all. Janet (MOM)

To Diane & all the Kili Conquerers!
Visitor — Mon, 03/03/2008 - 00:49What a Peak experience! What a powerful message of what dedication, perseverance, and group unity can accomplish! How wonderful that you have made this goal! I am humbled by your spirit. Bonnie's super audioclip message this morning was overwhelmingly emotional and I can hardly imagine what it was like for all you climbers. This will be a high that will sustain you for a long long time...truly a spiritual transformation.
Amazing grace, how sweet the sound...especially Bonnie's message of your triumph. T'was grace that taught your hearts to fear, and grace your fears relieved. Yes, grace informed your fears and foreboding of the climb, and yet, relieved your fears. How precious did that grace appear, the hour you first believed. Your solidarity in the belief of your cause, gave you the grace and spirit to achieve your goal. Amazing grace! By your inspiration we all will flourish.
Please take care in your final steps back down the mountain. Rejoice in your achievement and accomplishment for all you have honored and memorialized in your powerful effort. Much love to you from all your family, friends, and supporters here at home. We look forward to more details and all your individual stories. Enjoy your safari and final happy days together in Tanzania.
All my love to you, Diane, always...and warm hugs to everyone,
Sam

Visitor — Mon, 03/03/2008 - 12:52Bonnie and all,
Well, if you haven't figured it out already, I did make it to the top of Kilimanjaro! All the way to Uhuru Peak which is the actual summit. We summited around 6:30 AM Sunday. The sun had just come up. It was a big push to the summit and I was able to pull it off. It feels really good. Please let everyone else know. It was one of most amazing things I have done in my life. I love you and thanks for your E-Mails while I was on the mountain. They meant a lot. Offto safari tomorrow.
Congrats!!

Visitor — Mon, 03/03/2008 - 14:09Janet,
Chris and I made it to the summit of Uhuru Peak about 6:40 AM after a 6 1/2 hr hike that was so grueling that I was praying with every footstep. Our Macheme team had 100% success and the Lemosho and Rongai groups only had 1 or 2 that didn't make it. We have our banquet tonight and leave on the 5-day safari tomorrow. I'll send more when I can access my email.

Everyone sends tons of love to you both and are looking forward to the presentation at church!
Thank God you are safely at the hotel. How is the eye situation? I am hoping the altitude and dry air didn't have a bad effect on your eyes & contacts.
