If you have an account with MyEverest (all accounts are free), you can elect to receive an email alerting you when a new updates are posted to the site.  There are a number of settings that you can configure on the alert service, which are explained below. 

These settings are found under the Email notifications menu, which appears underneath your username when you are logged in.  The picture to the right shows the location of this menu.  When you click on this link, you will see 4 tabs across the top of the screen - All Everests, Everests, Forums and Updates & Posts.

All Everests
This allows you to receive an email notifying you when a new update has been posted on all the Everest sites and if you tick Forums, when a new topic is posted in any of the forums.  Please note that you will not receive an email when new messages are posted.  See Notification of new messages and comments below.

Everests
If you only want to receive email alerts about a particular climber, then you can select the individual Everest site under this tab.  Please make sure that you don't have All Everest sites ticked under the All Everests tab, otherwise it will ignore this setting and notify you updates to all Everest sites.  You will not receive an email when new messages are posted.  See Notification of new messages and comments below.

Forums
This allows you to be notified of new posts to a particular forum.  It doesn't notify you about new replies, only the topic.

Updates & Posts
This shows you all the updates and forum post that you are subscribed to receive email notifications.  If your autosubscribe option is selected (see Notification of new messages and comments) then every update or forum topic that you have posted to will appear here.

Notification of new messages and comments
When you post a message or a comment you may be automatically subscribed to receive  an email notification of any replies or additional posts.  This behaviour is set by the Auto subscribe option which is under your My account menu.  To check your setting, click on My account on the left hand menu, and then click on Edit.  Towards the bottom of the screen you will see Subscription settings.  If autosubscribe is ticked, then you will automatically receive notifications about replys or additional comments to your posts.

You can also manually control whether you receive notification of new messages on an individual update or page, by clicking on the link which appears at the bottom of each page.  If you are subscribed, it will say "You are subscribed to receive email notifications for this page."  Clicking on the link will unsubscribe you and it will say "Receive email notifications for this page".  If you click on it again, it will re subscribe you.

Unsubscribe
To stop receiving emails, you need to untick any of the options you have selected above.  For example, if you wanted to stop receiving emails for a particular Everest site, then click on the Everests tab and then untick the site(s) you no longer wish to be advised of new updates.
