Sadie here - Day 3

< Newer | Older >

The mountain is getting closer! It's day three here in Kili and it was a good one.  After walking for so long the past few days, the peak seems to be finally getting closer and we are very excited about that.  We are starting to feel the altitude a little bit but still are feeling pretty good.  As we start to feel it more in the next few days, my inspiration will be my friend Jacquie who just had a bone marrow transplant last Thursday and is staying strong.  If she can stay strong through that, we can certainly stay strong through anything we face up here.  Thanks for following our progress and all three routes are doing well.  Love Sadie

Day 3 and still going strong! I hope every morning you wake up with the inspirational song "ARE YOU READY?!" Great to hear from you.

Hi Linda - I think of you and your fellow hikers often. I can not imagine the sights and the sounds of creation that you are all experiencing. God is so awesome and you all are awesome for taking this journey. You are all in my prayers, and I will leave you with this thought.... when you run into the rough spots, just remember that even stamps had to take a licking to get to their final destination! God's peace and strength to each of you. Sheila

Hi Pat from Kellie & Dawn

We miss you and hope everything is going well! Kellie wants to know if the cookies ever made it to the mountain? We can't wait to see the pictures! Have a great time!

Jack

Hi Jack,
I just got back from the mall with Debbie and Mike. I got to see how the build a bear works. They bought one for Justin for his birthday. I went to the doctors with the three of them first. Justin is asking a lot of questions about your hike. He said I wish grandpa could come and help build my bear. I told him I was sure you would love it see it when you get home.
It is great to get the updates, it helps me get thur the day. After reading them, it makes me appreciate what you are going thru but also seeing. I love you. Love Patty

Good Luck/Best wishes

For Sadie and Phil:

Just remember that it's downhill all the way back!

hi to all

Hi Everyone!
My name is Nancy Meissel and I live in Perry, New York. A special "hi" to Kim, my friend Toni's daughter. Please tell her the boys are doing fine. I had lunch with her mom today at the Glen Iris. I couldn't be more pleased and proud of all of you and what you are doing and inspired to do for cancer survivors. My husband, Jerry, has CLL. It is chronic leukemia. Thank you for your committment.

Inspiration

Greetings to all the climbers, especially Diane King and Jack Lewis. For inspiration as the climb becomes more challenging, one might think back on the children's book about the little train climbing up the mountain. S/he kept saying, "I think I can! I think I can!" We know you can! We know you can!

Looks like you have a long day tomorrow. Good luck on the way to Barranco Hut. The Glacier and Lava Tower should be fun to see!

Just read that the air is starting to get thin. That won't bother you because your strength comes from within. We're all proud of you here back home.

Ok - I still don't know how this works!! Who invented a "blog"?!? Anyway, if it matters, you have a lot of messages on the "prepost" page. Maybe they all get to you anyways? Oh well, you have enough to do without worrying about your messages - we'll show you when you get home. Its just everyone wishing you well. Have you seen any monkeys?

Stay healthy. Have fun!!!
