LOCATION: Serengeti

As you can see Mt. Mike is rounding up his friends and heading home.  What a trip it has been.  Hyenas were howling right outside our tents last night.  We leave over a million wildebeast behind as we start the dusty drive home. Feb 26

DATE: Feb 26 LOCATION: Serengeti, Wild Tented Camp We are really lucky today to hit the wildebeast migration. Normally it is not here this time of year but the weather pattern has changed. Thousands of zebra, gazelle and wildebeast spread out as far as you could see. Half the group started home today. They stoppedat tne orphanage to buy them maize today first. The large tented camp is surrounded by hartebeast and other wild animals. Hyena call in the distance. Amazing.

DATE: Feb. 25

LOCATION: Karatu, Safari, Ngorongoro Crater,  Orphanage

Hi everyone! It's Laura. We have been at Shalom for 9 days now. It has been such an amazing experience! One of our major tasks for the trip was to get new mattresses for all the kids. Before, all the beds were pretty beat up. The picture shows some of the kids using the new, plastic-covered mattresses. We really loved playing with and helping the kids. We will miss them a lot.

DATE: Feb. 24 LOCATION: Safari, Lake Manyara, Karatu Post summit adventure. 2 days ago, 1,000 feet below the summit, Damaroo tripped and broke his leg. We had just summited and he was at the end of the group. There were myself, 2 climbers and 2 Africans there. We were in snow, possible rain to come, very miniumal gear due to summit bid. We splinted what turned out to be a complete tibia and fibia fracture. Unless you have been at high altitude it is hard to explain the complications th
