Last night we had the pitch to 6 judges for the MUEC business plan competition. We had a pretty good presentation and had practiced it several times (including, to my horror, using Brad’s video camera so that we could critique ourselves). Didn’t stop me from being nervous though. Once we started and got into it, we were fine though – with the only problem being that we did run out of time and missed the wrap-up at the end – they literally ring a bell and cut you off mid-sentence! We then had 12 minutes (precisely) of questions.
A couple of judges asked more in-depth questions about the ways that we were going to protect the site from sabotage. We have lots of methods planned but hadn’t had time to go into depth with them so explained a few of these. We also had one judge ask about whether we’d tested the colour we had used for the site (orange) and its application in other countries. Of course we hadn’t and unfortunately that’s when the bell rang and question time ended. Not the best way to end but I think overall it went pretty well. There were probably three judges that seemed quite positive about the concept, two that were neutral or hard to judge and one that didn’t seem to understand the concept at all. Apparently we’ll hear in about a week whether we go through to the finals round. Fingers crossed…
