One Day Before Summit Night

< Newer | Older >

Brad before climbing the Barranco WallDavid here, Karranga Valley, !3,000 feet. clouds hail, sun

Ten years ago I came down with Diabetes. My wife told me to get out the day and walkk 3/4 mile as part of how to stay healthy. I resisted but went. It was hard. I hated it! I kept at it. Hiking then became a way of life. The beauty, the friends and peace have become part of my life.

Yesterday as I told my story, someone said "and look where you are standing now" Tears came to my eyes.

Just wanted to send our best wishes for your final up hill climbing day! How'd you do on the Barranco Wall? It has been great reading and listening to the updates and so many times I've gotten choked up this week thinking of you all and what you are doing. Keep pluggin, we're all thinking of you and can't wait to hear all about it!

Listened to your audio Jim. Most inspiring. Best of everything on your final climb. Know you'll all make it. Thinking of you and waiting for your return to see all the pictures and listen to your story.

Hi Lynette

Hi Lynette,
I can only imagine the beauty that you are seeing on Mt Kili today. I am with you in spirit. Although the positive thoughts and prayers that I send seem like such small things, maybe they are the ultimate in resources that anyone can send you at this time to help you along your journey-and I am sure that you are saying, "thank goodness they are the lightest of things, too!"
I am thinking of you and your fellow hikers and urging you all upward. Keep up your strength.
Rest well.
Your friend,
Char

Here are the last two verses:
"And He understands every misgiving,
For fear is a part of us all,
But in faith make each step firm and steady,
And the father will not let you fall.
Just remember He's walking beside you
With love that will never fail,
His arm around your shoulders,
His eye upon the trail." Lee Simons

Keep your eyes on the trail- know that our love and arms are around you too.
Blue skies and views of the world to ya! Brenda and the gang

I am so excited for all of you. From the audios it sounds like you are all OK and still climbing. Your hard work is paying off. Persisting in prayer that all make the sunnit. South Georgia says Hey!!! ILMbs

"And look where you are standing now"

Hi David~

Your story touched me. I was in a head-on collision on Jan. 10, 1984. The doctors told me that for the rest of my life I would walk with a limp as my knee cap was partially shattered. I remember right after the accident, watching the Iron Man and telling myself that I wanted to someday participate in one. I haven't done the Iron Man but after much physical therapy and positive thinking, I did many 10K's, long distance bike rides and hiked many mountains. I stood on the summit of Kili on my 50th b-day on June 30, 2007. I so related to your story! Wishing you and the team good luck!!!

Hi Matt & Char

God be with you as you reach the summit! Frank & Norma send their best.
