On to Thame

< Newer | Older >

prayer wheelWe left behind the urban hillside of Namche to head into a lesser trekked valley.  Sorry for the small pics but the satellites here don't line up well for us.  Yesterday we had a hot shower, enjoyed Pink Floyd in power outage in a coffee house. Today we headed up a very important trail that leads to Nangpa pass.  500 years ago the first of what now are Sherpa people escaped this way from Tibet to settle in the area.  Again in 1959 to escape the Chinese Tibetans escaped this way.  Today with yaks Tibetans will make the 9 day journey to sell goods.  We have passed many of them today.

Thanks for the emails. They are a thread of connection to a distant world.

Our Sidar's (Sherpa leader) sister died yesterday on route to Katmandu in a transport helicopter of a chest ailment.  Please pray for her as it is believed it will speed her to a better place.

Spectacular, Lisa~

I can only imagine the beauty that you are experiencing!
I was glad to hear you, all, had the opportunity for a hot shower... oh, things we take for granted.
Prayer flags flapping in the wind... aren't they a great sight?
To be walking the path to freedom.... how awesome!
Be well, enjoy each moment~
My prayers are with Sidar's sister journey to a better place.
Love, Terry Ann
