DATE: February 17, 2009
LOCATION: Big Tree Camp. 9,000 feet. 3 hour hike. 3 hour truck ride.
Jen Here. It was beautiful weather today. The roughest and most fun part of the day was the truck ride through 4 foot deep mudholes on our approach ride. We passed monkeys howling at us, jumping with long white bushy tails. We stepped over elephant dung in the middle of the lush green jungle forest, no rain in the rainforest and the elephants stayed hidden. Cool great bright red flowers, ferns, fire ball lilies as we call them here. So, how is your day going off the mountain?
Everbody is doing awesome, the whole group is extra helpful to each other. We are loving life.
PS. Good luck on the interview John.

Hey Terry, Rick, Bonnie and the rest of you '09ers
CWilcox — Tue, 02/17/2009 - 17:31Enjoy this part of the climb to the fullest while the alititude is still comfortable. It's a beautiful place; wish I was there with you. You will see a lot of climatic zones in the next couple days; each has it's own kind of beauty. I'm glad you didn't have to hike through the rain on your first day like we did.

climbing in Flo-ri-da
kjmudd — Sun, 02/22/2009 - 15:02We can sense your excitement and know your getting close, or have gotten there by the time you read this.
I'm reliving my climb this week, by climbing the highest peak in Florida, well how about the sixth floor of the Boca Raton Embassy Suites. I guess the nausea wasn't so much altitude as the second pass at the omelet bar.
Love to all you guys, your living it, enjoy every second, oh yeah, its a veeery long way down, back to earth.
