Today we climb to Lobuche, at 16,000 feet our highest camp and our base for Kala Patar and EBC. We are somewhat queasy still so it is a challenge. We are preparing for a tough hike tomorrow and our climax.
Sorry about lack of some pics or posts. The satellites can not always be reached and when it does it only holds for a short time. These are all sent from a palm pilot with tapped in letters then attached to a satellite phone. Those are solar charged daily when there is time and sun. To post often means bundling up to go find a high spot in the dark, standing in a frigid wind below freezing, and then waiting for a satellite. Computers don't work at altitude, there is no electricity and the sun is only in the valley for few hours. Ah, life in the mountains. So it is very special each time we can get messages.
Wish us good trekking for tomorrow.

Gail H. Wolf — Sun, 11/23/2008 - 15:48I just went on a site that showed pictures of the villages, the people, the Yaks,
the beautiful lakes, the trails, mountains, etc. It is truly awesome and so unbelievably beautiful!! Heard your audio this morning and you sound great.
Dick sends hs best and hopes you remember to bring him some Yak dung.

Gail H. Wolf — Sun, 11/23/2008 - 16:18Hi
This is Dick, not Gail. I've been keeping up and am in awe of your trip, I've spoken to many people I am in contact with (nurses, PT's, doctors etc.; are there other types?) about your amazing journey. What a memory to have. Keep up the good effort. Have a great Thanksgiving wherever you are.
Thinking of you every day. Dick

M-Q-U. — Sun, 11/23/2008 - 20:07I just heard you and read about your 6 mile hike today. How exciting for you to be approaching the climax!! I wonder has it come too soon or has it seemed like a long haul. Sounds like an adventure every day. You have worked so hard. How are you doing with the cold? I have been thinking about that for you. Jay and I are running the Turkey Trot on Thursday. You will be with us in spirit. Enjoy the view from you highest point. Take a picture. Love you Maureen

Heracles — Mon, 11/24/2008 - 18:34We are proud of you! The poets say that the trip is worth more than the destination. You tell us whether that is true when you came back. Be safe.
