November 22 - Lapka's

< Newer | Older >
We stopped at Lakpa's our Sherpa's house for tea and to meet his family. He has
a daughter and son who attend a secondary school which is in the next town.
They stay there during the week in a hotel. Lakpa has sum mitted Everest 2x.
He does this mostly for the money besides the honor. His daughter has run the
Everest marathon. More on his family and its needs later when I can blog from
Namche.

We stopped at an old monastery, 1600,s deep in the Everest valley, Pangboche.
Everest is beyond in the distance.

Hi Gaylinn

I'm taking a break from work at the library and looking out the window at the snow falling on the Genesee River. Thinking of you looking at the snow in the Himalayas. I know you're having the time of your life...can't wait to hear about your adventures. Hugs and kisses to you. Love, Carol

OK; threw out the schedule ;-) I loved hearing your sleepy voice. The picture is fantastic. What are the scarves around you and Maura's necks? Where to today?
A lot of people have commented on Ann Curry's (Today Show MSNBC) failed trip on Kili and now respect our climb a lot more ;-) She didn't get past 15,700'. Kudos to Rick for leading (several) successful climbs.
Keep breathing, I love you very much. God bless you.
Love,
MOM and Carroll

Hi Uncle Gary!!!

We are tracking your trip and are glad to hear you are having a great time. Sounds like you are exhausted, though!! I hope you are taking LOTS of pictures to share with us when you get back. I'll have dinner at my house to celebrate your trip! Hope you have a nice Thanksgiving and you get to eat some Turkey. Darren, Josh and Jake said hello and the boys would like you to bring them back a stone or something cool like that. Take care be safe!
Love,
Janice

Signed on today

Just signed onto the blog today, the 22nd, and whose voice do I hear first? Frank! Sounds like you're having a great time. Keep talking to us. It's really strange to realize how far away from Roch. you are and yet we can still communicate almost instantly.
Keep having fun.

Well, the altitude is getting to me; I forgot my username and password! The vistas and sounds seem surreal and hauntingly beautiful. We have snow and it is rather lovely and exciting now with the holidays and wedding approaching. God bless and keep safe.
Love,
Nancy etc.
PS Ron got a buck w/his bow

Apparently I missed your voice, but I'm looking forward to hearing it again soon.

Thank you for everything you have done for me in your absence- you are wonderful.

Hi Chris & Rick

I have been following your trek everyday. It sounds like you're having an amazing experience. Maybe we can rally some JOI'ers to do this some day. I hope all is well with the group. Your in my prayers.

hi Lisa

Sounds like you are almost there. Hope you are all doing well. We are great and thinking of you. I know how much you love the cold. Maybe now we will be able to keep the house temp below 70. Keep warm. Love Mark
