Barranco Camp- 12,700 feet. Hail, rain and sun.
Hello out there JOI supporters. A great day for the team. The Leo Mosho and Macheme groups hooked up around lunchtime. There were hugs and greetings all around and some tears. Everyone in all three groups are still doing well. Many hiked up to the Lava tower this afternoon. What a siight! And we made it to 15,000 and could still breathe. Staring at rock wall for tommorrow wondering how we will get to the top.
Calvin,

ps Hello Bonnie, Stacy and Derrick, hiope the snow shoveling is not too bad.

How often you dread the unknown,
How often, too, do you tend to forget,
That you never walk alone.

For long, long ago He walked the same path
That you and I travel today..."

It's about midnight here and the TV reports a minus 5 wind chill index. You might be a lot warmer than we are. We just watched the New York PHilharmonic perform live in N. Korea. What a wonderful concert! I did see Deb Zimmerman at RGH last evening. You probably learned that she climbed last week. No wonder her picture was not among the "fearsome 40". She is director of nursing at RGH. I don't know how she can settle down to her job after Kili. A few nights ago I spoke with Sam. He sounds happy for you, and I think Zeus is probably lovin' these cold days. Zeus may be wondering what is his "Kili" after all the training he did with you. From all the canines and humans who love you, cheerio! Keep puttin' one foot in front of the other. The prize is in sight.

micmin2c — Fri, 02/29/2008 - 06:42John Denver sang it….I changed it a bit….
When he first came to the mountains his life was far away
He climbed cathedral mountains, he saw silver clouds below
He saw everything as far as you can see
And they say he got crazy once, and he tried to touch the sun
And he lost a friend but kept his memory
Now he walks in quiet solitude the forests and the streams
Seeking grace in every step he takes
His sight has turned inside himself to try and understand
The serenity of a clear blue mountain lake
I’ve seen it rainin fire in the sky
You can talk to God and listen to the casual reply
Friends around the campfire and everybodys high.....
ENJOY YOUR CLIMB TO THE TOP OF THE WORLD!
