Hi everyone sorry bout not posting sooner, had some trouble with pda, but thanks to my loyal administrators , paul n simone, I’m back on line.
The climb was a lot difficult as I said earlier and I felt I gave it my best in terms of getting to 6050m, my best but not good enough to reach the summit.
mind you the guide who has 15 yrs experience said to me quietly last night that I read all the symptoms and made the correct decision in turning round so close to the summit, so that was nice and I respect that.
paul, our team of climbing sherpas fixed rope for us but there was ropes on the headwall and summit ridge, but I’m not sure how good they are.
out of 8 in the group 3 summited and me getting close, so island peak was a lot harder than people think. and I have found out today only bout handful out of the 20/30 climbers that night summited.
we have now made our way back to dingboche abd namche bazarre tommorw for beers! and yak steak.can’t wait.
this trip has been so mentally and physically challenging but in another way I’m so lucky to have experienced it and to have you all along for the ride has been fantastic.
if you ever want to challenge yourself and step out of ur comfort zone ....do it, not just nepal but anything that will test u...its hard and uncomfortable but worth it....I sit here in the lodge and am very grateful for doing this...I guess in retrospect is it all bout the summit ?
thankyou for all ur supporting msgs and advice and comedy....its made it so much easy.....
regards kade

Hi hb...
kand2412 — Thu, 10/25/2007 - 02:21Hi hb....
I have posted some messages but for some reason they have not appeared on the web. Not quite sure what i did (or didn't do).
I'm glad that you made the decision not to proceed and you did extremely well to recognise the signs of altitude sickness (particularly given last time). We're all really proud of you and are just thankful that you're ok even if you didn't make the summit. You still made it to the highest you've ever been and should be proud of yourself. You've done a brilliant job.
What about thanking the loyal girlfriend for hanging in there despite all your madness, all the stress you put us through and even if you decide not to do any further mountaineering I'm sure there will be something else....bike riding in NZ, a trip to Qld or wine tasting in Tassie sounds more like my cup of tea.....I will have a contract waiting for you at the airport when you get home so that when you say you'll do whatever I want, I will have it in writing!!!
I'm heading off to Apollo Bay this weekend with Leah and Kez to stay at the treehouse apartments....sounds very luxurious and should be very nice....perhaps that's what you need when you get home is a weekend away with a spa, Bacon & eggs in bed, a few quiet glasses of red etc etc etc. I don't think the bucks weekend in Pt Fairy is going to be quite that relaxing somehow!!
Only 5 more sleeps...I miss you heaps!!
Take care & luv you
