Namche 11,300 feet

< Newer | Older >

LisaEveryone is doing well.  It is so hard to express how spectacular it is here.  Truly there is no village like this in the world.  Below our feet at the tent door the roar of the river can be heard several thousand feet below.  Across the town 4 miles higher, top out the highest mountains in the world.  "Himalaya" means place of the gods.

Hi Lis,

I can't imagine what beautiful views you have. What is the temperature and are you warm enough? One of the messages said it was good to hear your voice- I missed it somehow and hope to find it this morning. I love you and can't wait to see you and hear all about your trek. Hope you're getting some great pictures.

Me again

Hear your voice message. It was so good to hear you sweetie. You sound great. Talk to you soon. Love you Mom

Lisa, I just heard you!

Oh my goodness! How exciting - we get to hear from someone each day. Families and friends love that!! I can't wait to see the pictures - breathtaking - how do you capture that in a picture? I'm looking forward to it. You sound great. What an experience you must be having. I'll check in on you tomorrow. Maureen

WOW!

Hi Lisa, Rick and all their new/old buddies,
So terrific to get these updates, as I type away from the little foothills of Boulder, CO, trying to imagine those peaks and so wishing I was with all of you! Wondering what was discovered at the Namche market place that delighted you? Wondering what it feels like to walk by the prayer flags? Wondering what it feels like to have your breath taken away, knowing that there is more of that to come?!?
ENJOY! sending love and extra rich air! Sandy

Namaste Maura!

Namche must feel like a very well earned break after two days of trekking - especially the uphill stretch after Jorsale, the longest suspension bridge, glimpse or two of Everest .... well done & keep it up!
Enjoy your rest @ Namche. Visit the Gompa, look for Mingma and if you get a chance visit Sherwi Khambha! And the German Bakery - of course!!!
Understand Lu's been 'on air' since you left and promises to be on his best behaviour when you return! Take care! - Love Team 'X'

Phots Please!

Hey guys, your daily updates, sound clips and all the messages from loved ones are great! If possible and if you can, kindly post a few more photos too!
Thanks!

Maura the Explora!

Farr 6 wants to let you know that we are so inspired and awed by your courage. Some of us non-warm/fuzzy cardiac surgery types even got a little teary eyed when we heard your voice from across AND on top of the world. Chao says she is jealous (except for the no-shower part). Bettina says she is so proud of you. Helen sends love. We can't wait to see your pictures and hear all about it. Enjoy every moment of muscle ache and beauty -- can't imagine anything else could come close to it. alison
