My trek to base camp itinerary

< Newer | Older >

Dear Sandy, Gord and Alex,

thanks for the messages!  The school service project in Thame is an idea for the future.  So,

here's my itinerary to get to base camp.

April 4 - Pass by the Tengboche monastery, stay at Deboche 3860

April 5 and 6 - Stay in Dingboche, visit the Himalayan Rescue Project to hear about the latest high altitude research

April 7 - Loboche

April 8 - Gorak Shep - the last village on the trail

April 9 - Hike over the glacier to Base Camp

When we arrive there, many questions will be answered but for now we are heading onward and upward.  I will post photos on the blog when I impell someone into showing me how to do it!

Greeting from Calgary

Hey Angus,
Just a quick note to let you know we are keeping tabs on your progress, and thinking of you daily. I will share your news with all at Strath. We are enjoying our last few days of Spring Break before school starts next week. The weather here has been warm and windy this week.
Regards,
Pippa, Keith and Meryl Olivier

Howdy Big Guy !

Following the journey with interest & excitement ! I was thinking of 22 years ago (about) and a trek in N.Z. and Mount Cook (where it all started for SirEH). Great to know you are living the dream. Having "the Cake" should provide a taste of home; we can share a piece when you are back.
Take care. Ian

Update from Kent

Hello Angus - we are all looking forward to reading about your progress - and hoping to learn about the region; climbing and what it all feels like. Today Daddy, Sam & Lucy Lu all put up a big tent in the garden - beneath the trees. It has enough room to fit about 4-5 people. Mummy is doing a duathlon tomorrow - her first race with her new Cervello bike - and it is threatening to snow - last time we had snow was Easter Sunday ( in fact only time this year).

We will really enjoy reading your blogs and are very proud of you.

Hows it going?

Sarah has sent us a good update - and we continue to think of you. The olympic flame came through London last weekend - with a lot of interest in what is going on in Tibet. Watching the news for reports
