My daughter and husband met friends in Kathmandu on 28 Oct, Melissa and Jason James and Celeste and Parker Richardson. I am Melissa James' mother. Facebook comment from my Melissa on 31 Oct from Kathmandu, husband, Jason, has food poisoning, leaving 5am 1 Nov by bus to Jiri, 8-10 day trek. Then climatize, then continue remaining 20 day trek to base camp, fly from Lukla to Kathmandu on 25 Nov
Celeste and Parker Richardson have a GPS and blogspot to track them. However, on 1 Nov a 911 emergency beacon requesting ground rescue. 3 Nov the GPS went off. All 4 families are in contact with each other. I posted info on my daughter and son-in-law's facebook asking for more info on their itinerary or if anyone has heard from them. Many responses but no additional info. I have direct contact with the US Embassy in Nepal. They have contacted police, Himalayan Rescue Team, hospitals. Sent photos and names.
I assume they trek from Jiri to Namche Bazaar. I have tried contacting lodges in Namche Bazaar but no response.
Is there anyway we can track them via permit?
Is there anything else I should be doing?
Any information from people that have been there would be helpful.
thank you, Barbara Towns
