Well, finally made it to base camp. We were met 5 minutes from camp by some of the cook staff, who had brought out beer and other beverages. The weather took a turn for the worse today, we had snow all night and white out conditions most of the way down. We are now hearing reports that some climbers are turning back because of bad weather, the monsoon may have arrived!?
We had 4 Sherpas supporting us.
Llama Babu - Head Sherpa
Llama Thame - Who is a Sherpa and a Llama
Niima Tamang - Who was Scott's summit day Sherpa( a back up in case we needed support
Tsering Ongchu - Who was my summit day Sherpa
However, the key way they supported us was by carrying oxygen bottles ( 5 per climber at 12 pounds each) plus tents and food to establish the 4 camps above base camp. That's a lot of load carrying.
A more cognizant post tomorrow.

carolyncampbell — Fri, 05/23/2008 - 15:47Angus - Carolyn Campbell (and Bob, Bronwyn, Kennedy and Martha Stevens) here in Waterloo. What an astounding accomplishment. You should be extraordinarily proud. It was indeed a thrilling thing to open up your website and see the wonderful news of your summit and safe decsent. Kate had provided us with your coordinates so we could follow along with your Everest adventure. So glad to hear that the base camp "bar" was open on your return. Perhaps another slice of base camp bakery apple pie to top off the celebrations?
Cheers!
Excellent news!
lmurray — Fri, 05/23/2008 - 16:50Hi Angus,
Great to here you are now back at the relative luxury of BC. Will you celebrate with a real shower? Mum and Dad were very glad to be able to speak to you for real, and now plan to drop by our place to read your blogs from the last 6 weeks. Enjoy your rest, and catch up on your sleep.

"THERE'S A CLIMBER DOWNNNNN (BORROWED FROM MIKE MEYERS MOVIE)!!
david zolf — Fri, 05/23/2008 - 18:31hi angus and sarah too,
it's encroy%%%able to hear you are safe and sound and pounding back the
brown pops and savouring the moment as well as you can.
Hopefully there won't be a bagpiper at BC, with a "snow leopard"covered (never!!) set of bagpipes, drunkenly playing Rod Stewart tunes to spoil the mood and collapse. (Geoff will know movie source of course)
Instead you will be groovin to Superman, Feeling gravity's pull ( (Guatemala) - we know the southern source of these tunes.
Enough cryptic movie/music trivia geek stuff.
Take care and i send my heart on my sleeve love to my adopted and wise
Bro!!!
love
