May 18
C2
Today we spent the day resting at C2. Tomorrow we leave at 5 am for camp 3 to beat the heat on the Lhotse Face. We should be there by noon. Last night we had a great dinner, spaghetti and deep fried Spam. I have eaten more Spam in the last 6 weeks then I have in my lifetime! This afternoon I worked with my oxygen mask to ensure that it fit over my toque and balaclava and that both my sunglasses and goggles fit underneath. I also guzzled 4 liters of water to stay hydrated. We just finished dinner and will be going to bed soon. The sky is clearing and the moon is almost full, it should be another beautiful night in the western Cwm ( a welsh word by the way.)
Time to head to bed and then time to head up, I may not post for a few days but Scott Kress and Alan Arnette are planning to bring their gear up, dedicated bloggers that they are.

Hasta la victoria, siempre

Companero: Got up this morning and thought of where mi amigo Angus might be hanging out. Then I thought of the Argentinian revolutionary, El Che, who once said - "hasta la victoria, siempre" (Always towards victory). I'm just happy you're not in an violent armed uprising but rather applying this to the personal sphere - much more noble in my opinion!

Bueno - as they say in Costa Rica - "pura vida" (pure life) - but I must also add what the Latins around here say "carpe diem"... it seems to be what you're doing.

!Buen viaje, comparnero!

Paul

Lonsdale's is with you!

Almost there!

Hey Mountain Man Murray,

We at SLS just returned from a mountain summit of our own: Grad was at Whistler last weekend. We, both in Lonsdale's and in the school, are all very proud of you, giving our combined-astrally-projected-support. You certainly embody our motto: Palmam Qui Meruit Ferat ("victory to those who deserve it"). We wish you great mind, body, and spirit as you summit!

P.M.

Wondering if this just posted story is about you:
