Angus and I are now in Namche Bazarre. I am having problems with the technology. I wrote a long posting on the PDA, but can not not figure out how to copy it here. I will try again tomorrow.
The flight to Lukla went well. It was quite dramatic. We hiked for 4 hours to Monjo and spent the nice at a lodge. The food and the accommodation were good. The next day we hiked to Namche. It was a stunning hike through a giant valley. It was all up hill, but only took us 2.5 hours.
Today we did a day hike to Khunde and Khunjung to visit the Hillary Hospital and the local school. It was pretty amazing. It has been cool and cloudy. We have not had a view of any mountains yet. We will do another day hike tomorrow and hopefully the clouds will rise so we can see.
Namche is a busy and very interesting place. There is a huge market here where the Tibetans sell their good to the local Sherpa people. They bring mostly clothing and shoes made in Chins across the glacier into Nepal. Namche is the largest Sherpa village in the area and an ancient trading post.
All is well and I am acclimatizing well.
I'll try to post again soon.
Thank you to everyone who has sent me a message. I appreciate your support.
Dream Big, Scott.

As the one fellow said - send the pictures - most of us will only see these places on TV - if even then!

PDA technology
Mary Clare Reinhardt — Wed, 11/07/2007 - 21:32Hey Scott and Angus~
Maybe in the evenings or on a rest day, you could find someone who is experienced with the PDA technology and with connecting to the sat phone. It would be nice to read your updates while you are on Ama Dablam. Btw, nice photo of the Khunde Village.
Continued success and keep dreaming big!

Hang in There!
Visitor — Thu, 11/08/2007 - 04:31The technology is easy .... once you figure it out! Have some pastries in Namchie and don't worry about it. Looking forward to the next dispatch from up valley.
Be Safe,
