Practicing my routine before the actual class.

Yesterday was my first official activity for fund raising.

I gave a class (Super Work Out) in the Social Community Room where I work. I had people that came after work. Some had already given me the money and some of them just showed up at the beginning of the class. Some people even gave me the money but didn’t come for the work out… would be too rough, they said... .  I had been sponsored from the gym where I work with some gifts, so I made this draft for people to win. Everybody enjoyed it I guess. We had a good sweat and it was fun. People are really generous when it comes to give for my project. I’m also selling those toothbrushes provided by my dentist and a lot of people give me more than what I ask for.

Helping friends.

Some of my friends are also helping me, taking their own initiative and organizing stuff for me, without me doing nothing. For example, I have a friend who came home, took 20 of my toothbrushes and offered me to sell them. I have another friend who, at her job, just decided to talk about my project and collected money for me. I have this other friend who is organizing another of these Super Work Out, trying to look for a space where I could do the class, in my hometown (I come from Contrecoeur, a small town close to Montreal, Quebec).  She's also looking for people to come. I'm really amazed to see how people just offer to help, for free. I know it's a good cause (sick children), but still... I also know that sometimes people get surrounded by all kinds of activities organized to raise funds.

It makes me feel supported.

It just reminds and show me how good are the friends I have and how they love me! I really feel that I'm not alone in this HUGE project. Because, oh! yeah, I sometimes feel that time is flying too fast (I'm leaving may 26). I wonder if I'm going to be ready, I wonder if I will be able to do this. I don't want to disappoint all those supportive people. Sometimes I think of myself as this little girl from my hometown, and I can't believe that I am going to Africa on this expedition and that I am actually going to Kilimanjaro...

Talk to you soon...

Anik - The journey is the destination

It is wonderful to see the generous spirit of friends and people who care about making a difference. Good for you raising money for Opération Enfant Soleil.

I completely understand how you feel about the challenge ahead of you. Today, I got excited because it hit me that I am going on an amazing adventure to Kilimanjaro/Tanzania. Once I get on that plane (and I have trained and prepared the best that I can) I will begin a journey that will be both fulfilling and exhilarating. Whether or not I summit (I hope I do) I will have experienced so much. Don't worry, you won't disappoint anyone; you are a success for all your efforts whether or not you summit. I am very excited for you! I will be with you in spirit!

Cheers!!!

Thank you MC for cheering me up and I'm sending those cheers back to you now and on your way up. I really like that citation. Is it yours???? It reflects the way I feel too. Keep in touch and let's exchange the way we feel on our respective journey...

Cheers right back!!!

Sounds good. It will be nice to compare notes on our respective journeys!

Yes, that is my citation. I set a goal for myself last year to write a minimum of one quote a day until I had 500. I just reached my goal several days ago! I am now setting up a web-site called MyArtEtc.com which will house my best quotes; also photographs and art work. Then I will hopefully publish a "coffee table" book of quotes complete with black & white and color photographs called "Shine to Success". Thank you for your comment about my quote; it inspired me!
Btw, you might try writing a quote...anyone can do it and it is quite rewarding!

Quotes.

I like that one as well.... I think I'll try to start setting up my mind into finding ideas for quotes... but YOU really are a good "quoter"! I also think it's a good way to "introspect" on yourself and life in general...

Have a nice day!!! I'm going to work!
