I will be climbing Kili this June. I am aiming to summit on June 30th and will follow up with a safari. If anyone is interested, please post here.
Aeronik, if you read this, I know you are also climbing Kili this June. Maybe we could climb together? What route are you planning to use and what date do you plan to summit?

Kilimanjaro
aeronik — Sun, 03/18/2007 - 18:42Hi MC,
I'm leaving Canada on may 26 and am planning on summitting on the 2nd or 3rd of june. We're going through Machame route. We have a 7 days/6 nights plan (5 days up 2 down). I'm going with a group, but yeah sure if we meet on the route, it would be interesting to exchange and spend some time on the way. When wre you planning to be there and on with route???
P.S.: I have a little question. I received an e-mail notification about your message, but then when I try to look for it in the website (I mean I try to look where it's been posted from) I can't find it...
Ciao,
Aeronik :o)
Kilimanjaro - June 2007
Mary Clare Reinhardt — Sun, 03/18/2007 - 21:23Hi Aeronik
Thanks for your reply. I have just booked my air. I will be arriving at JRO on June 23 and hopefully summiting on June 30th (a full moon and my 50th b-day!) I will do either the Umbwe route or the Lemosho/Machame route. So, we will miss each other but I will be following your climb. I wish you success and a wonderful journey.
In answer to your little question, my original post for Kili is under Forums. Go to Physical Everests, then Climbing Mountains and then Kilimanjaro - June 2007. mc
Safari on the Serengeti - July 1st?
Mary Clare Reinhardt — Mon, 03/26/2007 - 23:19I am planning a 5 day safari after my climb of Kilimanjaro. Currently, I am on my own. The cost is much higher if you are solo. Just thought I would ask if anyone might be planning a safari or know of someone doing so in Tanzania for July 1st. I am considering not setting up in advance and going to Zara directly after my climb to see if there are any open groups...otherwise the cost is about double!
Thank you, MC
Can't wait to hear about your climb
Pumori — Sun, 07/08/2007 - 18:12Hi MC,
I hope your Kili climb went well. I'd love to hear all about it when you return. (Also your Whitney hike, too.)
Namaste,
Shanda
Full moon and my 50th birthday on the summit of Kili!
Mary Clare Reinhardt — Sun, 07/08/2007 - 23:03Hi Shanda
Your timing is impeccable! I just got home last night from Kili and a safari. I summited on June 30th, my 50th b-day! I started my climb without my gear (luggage did not arrive at JRO) and was using used gear from Zara and also borrowed gear from a very kind stranger!!! Day 3 on the mountain, a porter met me on the trail and I received my bag with all of my gear! My trip was about adversity, overcoming obstacles, wonderful people and through all of this, I was able to stand on the top of Africa. I will write up a TR soon and post some nice pix. Below are five thumbnails of my Kili climb (you can click to enlarge). I took the Lemosho/Machame route. Btw, here is link to my TR and pix of Mt. Whitney (scoll down). Thanks for your interest, Shandra!!!

Well Done MC on reaching the top of Kili
Paul Adler — Sun, 07/08/2007 - 23:49Hi MC,
Great to hear that you got to the top of Kilimanjaro. I am really interested to know if you were you able to climb in leather boots or did you need plastic boots. Also did you need crampons for your route?
Looking forward to your trip report.
Paul.
Well done MC. Hope it was
Cas — Mon, 07/09/2007 - 16:05Well done MC. Hope it was everything you wanted it to be plus more.
Cas
Congratulations!
Pumori — Mon, 07/09/2007 - 01:19Glad the climb was a success. What a great way to spend your 50th birthday! Love the photos. Did you suffer any effects from the altitude? Looking forward to hearing more, but get over the jet lag first!
