From Kids

Speaking to and meeting children has been a major part of Everest-007.  I get many wonderful messages from them.  I am creating this page to give them a place on MyEverest to have a spot to post their thoughts and questions.

Hi TA

How are you doing?.You went to my school Baltimore in Ferryland this week and i just wanted to thank you for coming .I had a really good time i learned alot too! you had some really good pictures and i just thought i should send you an e-mail to tell you these things!..Well anyway i think you are either gone or leaving soon but either way i hope you make it too the top .You will make all of Newfoundland proud and even more you should make yourself really proud of what your doing.Im sure all of that hard work you did will pay off when you make it to the top, And just remember when your going up too the top and your feet are so cold you feel they are going too freeze don't give up just remember how good it will feel at the top and think of a warm place, And thanks for coming you were a big inspration to all of us Bye and good luck, make Newfoundland proud!

Thanks TA

You spoke at my school yesterday afternoon, and I have to say.. what a presentation you gave. I felt so inspired throughout the whole time, and I took in everything that you said. Even the teachers in my school are so happy to have met you. You should be very proud of yourself.. you have accomplished more already, than a lot of people do in a lifetime. Good luck on this upcoming trip to Mount Everest. You're in our thoughts and prayers.

Love from York Street!

Hi TA,

Love the picture of your tent! The boys just finished their hockey seasons yesterday with their play-off games. Peter's team tied for Bronze after a fabulous double overtime game (the organizers decided to call it and let both "win"). Kevin's team fought hard to make it into the gold medal game and lost in a close one. Kevin was thrilled with his silver and the whole experience.

We talk about you often and send you our psoitive thoughts and energy. Miss you and looking forward to having you back in the neighborhood.

Love Gillian

You'll be better soon!

Good Luck on your trip to the high tops of Mount Everest!!

hey

my name is MarionHammond and i thnk you are so cool to go climing and i wish i was you but i can't climb is it cold in the everst? well i must go.

Note from Judy: Marion I sent your full message to TA, but deleted your email address from here so you won't get spammed with email.

TA cannot reply to individual emails but will certainly enjoy hearing from you.

Mostly silly stuff

Jenny has some advice for you: Don't yell! Wouldn't that cause an avalanche? Also, have you seen a yetti yet?
Sarah wants you to know: Don't eat any yellow snow
(Mrs. Hill doesn't know how she would know about this because we live in South Carolina and we don't know what snow looks like)
Derek doesn't want you to run into a Sasquatchy
Erik S. wants to make sure that you are eating healthy, not junk food.
Nicole wants to know: what would you eat if your food runs low?
Amari wants to know: do you eat any type of animals?
Allison wants to know: what inspired you to climb Mt. Everest?
Caroline wants to know: have you seen any albino bears up there?
Logan wants to know what type of food you have taken with you.
This is a proud moment for Mrs. Hill, those language arts skills are really hard at work here!

My Answers

Hi,

Jenny-no yetis-except for one attached to a friend's pack.
Sarah-Never a good idea to eat yellow snow or pink snow.
Derek-I'll keep my eyes peeled.
Erik-I do my best but sometimes I like a donut.
Nicole-I would eat the food that I did have slower so it would last longer.
Amari-I don't eat much meat but on the climb we did eat water buffalo and yak and chicken.
Allison-I wanted to climb Mount Everest to inspire kids to get active and to follow their dreams.
Caroline-No albino bears. No other bears. Just big crows called Goraks.
Logan-Lots of rice, beans, fruit, vegetables, pasta...mountaineers eat alot.

Good work asking questions,

TA
