DATE: Feb. 20, Friday
LOCATION: Barranco Camp, 12,600
Long day. Most went to Lava tower. All were doing very well but the 15,000 feet at the tower gave about 4 a rough time. They will recover tonight. Some rain and hail that gave way to clouds, enough to dry us out. All realize now if not before, this is a significant endeavor. Thanks for the messages. We read them in the mess tent at night.

jodibble — Fri, 02/19/2010 - 18:32Wess,
No worries here, Y is still standing, saw lots of people there last night and asked about you and send good wishes. Quinn and the boys are happy and healthy. Bonnie's sale of State Street went through! We travel to Albion tomorrow for tournament. If they play anything like they did last night they should do well, their passing and teamwork was awesome even with Ryan Curtis playing AGAINST them.
Drink lots and lots of water. Miss you. JoJo
P.S. Laura's description of BLT pizza made MY mouth water!
Wow!

SteveB — Fri, 02/19/2010 - 19:30Sounds like it's getting more and more challenging each day. Hope you can avoid wet weather for a while. Had a volunteers' luncheon yesterday and spent half the time telling everyone about your journey. Have the College Relay tonight at RCC and will continue to tell everyone what an incredible thing you are doing. Everyone in Rockland sends their love and support. Keep climbing up that mountain. Love you.
P.S. The Knicks got Tracy McGrady and now have 2 max contracts available.

CWilcox — Fri, 02/19/2010 - 19:48You go guys!! Stay strong. The Barranco Wall was my favorite part of the climb and I hope you guys also love it. The 08'ers are keeping track of your journey and reliving it through you. Make sure you drink lots of water. See you on the other side of the pond.

lriter — Fri, 02/19/2010 - 20:03I see puffy coats in the last photo. It must be getting chilly. Rides, remember, you have my permission to spoon Wess if you need to keep warm. It's all about survival!! Hope you are feeling well and taking in all of the sights. Love you. Liz
Lava Tower/Barranco Wall
kdavidson — Fri, 02/19/2010 - 20:23Alex, Sadie, Rick et al, Jambo!
Keep pluggin' The Wall is breathtaking, ( and that's just looking up from the bottom); BUT views of waterfalls as You start gettin' up there are something else! THIS will remind You that YOU ARE INDEED on the World's Highest freestanding mountain, in case that lil lesson ever gets lost... All well back here on the Capital Homefront: FOCUS on task at hand and, again, take it ALL in!

The Wall!
kwozniak — Fri, 02/19/2010 - 20:59As you looked up that wall, as I did, it seemed too big for me to take on. It reminded me how I felt going through chemo and operation after operation - always thinking I just can't go on. But, guess what - I did it and you are too. The findings of a new study were released this week that taking a low dosage of aspirin may help women like me fight reaccurance by almost 50%. It is because of your efforts that research and awareness continue to grow. I can't tell you how proud and thankful I am for what you are doing.
Thank you Rick
kwozniak — Fri, 02/19/2010 - 21:03Rick, I don't know if you remember our talk in the tent, but it was one I won't forget. It was a year ago at Karanga camp that a stopped being a survivor and became a fighter. I will always be grateful. Take care of the 10'ers, push, pull and drag their butts up that mountain like you did me!
ALmost there Yoga!
vandnayr — Fri, 02/19/2010 - 21:15Looking good! One step at a time. I know you are going to make it. Take a nice picture at the summit. I have been showing your pictures to my staff here. They are also following your climb. I will forward the link to Dr. Frost too!
Damroobhai, Rajubhai and Soha! Looking Awsome in the picture!
Keep up. Sing some African songs and keep on climbing!
I like "Jambo Bwana"

jodibble — Fri, 02/19/2010 - 21:27If it's ok with Liz it's okay with me, you two can snuggle up! Bunny says go with the "mansack" if you have to... she and her dogs are here and Wess I know how much that will warm your heart.
You can do it!!
RKR1 — Fri, 02/19/2010 - 21:36Hey Bridge,
You were in my dream last night! Which, of course had nothing to do with your climb, but it must mean I'm thinking about you ALL the time. Take care and hang in there! I know you (all) can do it. I was just thinking of some of our favorite movie quotes, they make me smile, hopefully they will make you smile too! "It's our flaw." Love you and miss you.
Dara
pastime26 — Fri, 02/19/2010 - 22:02When the going gets tough....etc.etc.
Remember all the "treking" through hospital halls. Remember how hard that was. You know you are a fighter. Keep up the good work.
Rose Ann checked in on you today, she's half way through chemo and doing OK. All the Sullivans are interested in your adventure and wishing you God speed.
If good thoughts could put wings on your feet, you would be at the summit
now.
Take care.
Love you.
pizza
esthert — Fri, 02/19/2010 - 22:24Hi all.
They talk about pizza in a note above- well I remember getting french fries (not Rick cooked) but real french fries for lunch one day on the mountain and that tasted about the best food ever. Enjoy the wall and every foot step

We agree with Esther..... The Wall and beyond to the summit will remain with you for a lifetime. This is why you trained and why you committed to the "Journeys" adventure. Enjoy, we wish we were there climbing again.

Sona — Sat, 02/20/2010 - 03:17Soha, DamarooMama and all...
My gosh, sounds like today was about realizing this is mother nature you're going after - but who gets to say they conquered her! So much in awe of all your doing, so impressed by each step you take. You're going to be there, right at the top, and wet or cold, dry or sweltering, you're going to have turned this incredibly challenge into an opportunity to test your will, grow your bonds, learn your perspectives, and just have fun.
Enjoy, you are all my inspiration!
Love, Sona

Bon — Sat, 02/20/2010 - 05:50Hi All,
Bonnie here. Thinking of you all with Awe! Did the wall, huh! You can do anything now! Believe me, I know! A little bird told me, I wasn't expected to make it (not tellin' you who, Rick!). So, Ha! What did he know!
Just remember, Every day -- a miracle! And just in case you need it, here's my secret mantra (well, not really so secret). When the going gets tough, just repeat, to the rhythm of your feet: "I am good and I am strong." Got me to the top!
Love to you all! :)
Bon
