Bruce on theland roverDATE: Feb 16 LOC:Kilimanjaro trail-head Bruce here atop 1993 Landrover. This baby can drive through a mud-filled trench. Beforehand we rode on a small African bus until the road became too challenging. Welcomed by Colobus monkies which appeared as flying skunks to our western eye. To Wess and John, Tuesday 2/16 afternoon

Wess, Looking at picture from Monday, you still have long pants on, what's up with that? John, glad to see you're sticking close to my man... Quinn says she loves her Dad and thanks for the Valentine. Ali is over today playing. Big Black and Little Brown are missing their walking partner and JoJo wishes she were there. Guys, have a good hike to Shira Camp 1, by the look of the camp it looks like we should have gone with the 2 1/2" mattress!

Good luck

Damaroo, Soha, Yagneshbhai and team: Best wishes. Safe and wonderful climb.

Hi Dad!!

Jambo Alex!

President's Day still messing w/ my head... Can't figure out what day it is, BUT you'll experience that phenomenon EVERYDAY and THAT's a WONDERFUL thing because, quite frankly, time/days DO NOT MATTER. Be in the Moement Alex! I figure that You've just hit Shira 1, ( Enjoy outhouses :-0!...) We saw an incredible rainbow there last year... Only time I've EVER been able to see one from beginning to end...Made a wish and it came true! You're on your way, out of chaos of Moshi and about 2 1/2 miles above Sea Level. ENJOY Alex. All of Us are pullin' for You and Your Climbing mates! Hey to Rick...Take care of my man Alex! Keith d. JOI '09 :-)

Gold Medals

It is early morning and as usual the first thing I think about is where you are. For me the hike to Shira 1 was one of the most beautiful days for me. At night I watch the Olympics and think of the amazing heroic feat you are taking on too. You have already received the gold medal.

Ginny

Hey girl, guess what --- you're doing it! How is the sleeping bag? I hope you had a warm and peaceful night. You know the drill, one step at a time - he is there with you.

Love to all,
Karen - who also has indoor plumbing.

Bruce --- Life is Good

Rick this message is supposed to be sung to Bruce. "Life is Good, wind is in my hair, walking up Kili on my winter vacation". Enjoy my friend. Love you much, Karen

thinking of you every moment and knowing you're climbing that moutain, and thinking of the mountains you've already climbed!

To my sister rister...

I'm certain you'll have no problems getting to the top of the mountain you are currently climbing - but getting to the bottom of the mountain of things I'm leaving for you here is another story! :)

And tell Dad - all is well! :)

Love you!
