DATE: 9/14/07
LOCATION: Rongbuk Monastery, Everest Base Camp, 17,000 ft.
EVENT: Hiking to Base Camp!
Rocky here again. Others are out warming in the sun. YES! We all made it today! We stood in the wind with a 12,000 ft wall of rock and ice rising above us. The peak, drifted in and out of the clouds. Unbelievable to actually stand there today.
On the way back down, we celebrated by stopping in a yak hair tent and drank yak butter tea with the locals.
Hard to believe after all this time we have stood in such a wonderful and awe-inspiring place.
So many of you wrote us. We read them at breakfast. Very touching to hear from you. There were even a few tears.
We will do one additional and final post Friday evening your time in America.

debe — Fri, 09/14/2007 - 10:26WOW!! It must have been an amazing day for you all! Chris - you are at the base of the biggest mountain on earth!!!! What is it like? Congrats to you, Rick, Paul & everyone else! I wondered last night what you all might be craving the most (vegetables, beer...) and Dave said, "oxygen". He's probably right! Enjoy the rest of your time in Tibet and have a safe trip home. Lots of love - deb

journey's end
Kaka — Fri, 09/14/2007 - 15:43Well, this is the end of a perfect day.
Near the end of a journey too.
For memory has painted this perfect day
With colors that never fade,
And we find at the end of a perfect day
The soul of a friend we've made.

KLONDIKE — Fri, 09/14/2007 - 20:48HEY KEV,
I CAN'T GET A DECENT YAKBURGER ANYWHERE AROUND HERE. SEE IF YOU CAN MAKE CONTACTS WITH SOME LOCAL FARMERS. WE'LL CORNER THE MARKET ON IMPORTED YAK MEAT. I'M WORKING ON NAMES FOR THE FRANCHISE NOW,
HOW ABOUT "THE YAKSHACK".............. THIS COULD BE HUGE! KLONDIKE

It's really awesome to be able to live vicariously through all of you who are adventurous enough to actually live-out the dreams of people like me. The pictures and audio are very, very cool...Breathtaking!
Have a safe and wonderful trip back to the States...Can't wait to try some Yak Butter Tea. I'm sure you'll be bringing back a healthy supply of it now that you know how incredibly fantastic it is.
Later...and, Peace to all!
