Mom and baby nursingDATE: February 25, 2009

LOCATION: Karatu, Safari in Manyara

Safari folks here. 4 of our group went home today and the rest of us headed out on safari. First though we had chai and mandazi (africa doughnut) at Yusuf's house. It was a very special invite that allowed us to share how people here live. Lunch included barbeque goat.

Safari is unbelievable. As you can see from the picture. It is everthing you can imagine. So many animals. It was an especially good giraffe day. We
continue tomorrow with safari all together. Tomorrow will be our last post. It is hard to believe that our journey is coming close to an end. We are anxious to share all our thoughts and celebrate our experiences with you when we get home.

Congratulations on a fantastic accomplishment! On safari, stay away from any/all "tiki" torches.

Jennie's daily hello

The safari sounds wonderful. Tyler wasn't happy to hear about you eating a barbecue goat, but that's the world of a nine year old. I reminded her that she eats chicken and cow all the time. Be safe, have fun! Love, your little, sis, Susie and family

Keith

Sounds like the safari is going well. Would never be able to eat goat. You probably loved it, You'll eat anything....
Loved the picture of the elephant. I can't wait to see all the photos.
St. Maarten continues to be beautiful. Sun and Fun. Went shopping, got a lot of good buys... Can't wait to show you. Have a great time.
Love you

Just wanted to say Hi. Andrea texted me to ask if I had heard from you. I've had many more ask the same. You are missed here in the states. Enjoy your adventure. Take lots of pics and write down your adventures when you have the opportunity. This is truly an adventure of life. Be safe out there, as I can't wait to see you. ;-)

Jo Jo JoAnn!

I must say that since you left for Africa, how QUIET it has been in the office...!!!!And just wait until you see all the boxes and mail that is waiting for you (just kidding!).
I am sure that everyone now knows what an adventurous life you have and still continue to lead - did you share stories about bungi jumping off the Taj Mahal and using dolphins as skis when you were being chased by the CIA?
Oh, and that you are a regular McGuyver - able to repair an engine with tweezers...Or how about that time in Cairo when you ...oh...sorry..wasn't supposed to share that...I forgot...my bad...
We have been closely watching your progress and are so very proud of all of you!
Looking forward to hearing the newest adventures from the Kili trip and ....!!!
You have been missed...!

Bonnie on safari

Bon, I"m gathering from the site that you were able to continue on to the safari. Fabulous. We'll be waiting for your photos! Please take some moments to record what you're seeing. Bravo for reaching the summit of Kili! Love, Marcia S

Keith

What you won't do for a doughnut. I bet they told you if you want the doughnut you will have to promise to eat the goat. Looks like you are having a great time. I hope when you get home you continue to take time for yourself and your family. I am sure being away like this helps to put things in order. I was in the Queensbury office yesterday with Audrey. It was a hoppin place and Audrey did a great job. I even had lunch with Margaret. She is doing a great job. I promised her when you get home Linda and I are coming to visit you and her. Have a great day and don't get to close to those animals. We will see you soon.

Joan

Your Emotional and Spriritual Batteries are Recharged!

KEITH AND ALL YOU CRAZY CLIMBERS!!

I want to reiterate just how proud I am of all of you. My friends, family and close colleagues have all followed this journey with you and ask me all the time, where you are and how you're doing. Uncle Bill is so glad you're off the mountain and hopes you're enjoying your safari!!

It is amazing just what you have accomplished physically and spiritually, for yourselves, for Cancer Survivors and for the American Cancer Society. The blogs are so moving! You can hear the pride and the love in every word. I have been brought to tears just reading the blogs! Karen's audio from the top was so inspring and well deserved! HooRah! I listen to it again and again. I feel like I know you and I cannot wait to meet you all! Thanks for taking such good care of my brother!

So, hurry home so we can all hug you. Then, with those fresh batteries, go back out and do that wonderful work that you all do and infect others with the Spirit and Team Work of your inspring journey to the top of Africa!! I know you will all play an important role in erradicating this dreadful disease once and for all!! By leading, by inspiring, by moving, and by supporting. Just keep on Ticking!
Love,
Kimberly
