New audio update from TA and the WOKies on Kilimanjaro.

This is the text of TA’s audio message:

Hi this is TA calling in from Millennium camp which is at approximately 3800 metres.  We are all down from the mountain and down from Barafu camp where we started the day, 23 hours ago…So as you can imagine we are all quite tired after our amazing, exhausting, amazing day.

We got down off the mountain between 11 this morning and 2 o’clock in the afternoon, and then had a lovely little brunch with fancy napkins.  We then packed up, and walked the 2 ½ hours down to Millennium camp to be in position for moving to the Mweka Gate tomorrow afternoon, which is I think, is 5 or 6 hours of walking. This puts us in Arusha tomorrow so you will all be able to be in touch and hear many more of the stoires of the amazing week we’ve had here on Mount Kilimanjaro.

As we were walking out the clouds had the amazing…not fortitude…not gratitude …no…the clouds cleared…it was amazing to see the mountain in its full glory, and to once again be filled with that amazing surprise of seeing and imagining just early that day we were standing on top of it and now were many kilometers away from it.  The pictures will help us remember that, that’s actually what we did.  I think for some the accomplishment is still beginning to sink in, and will sink in more as the exhaustion of being up for nearly 23 hours and climbing for 14 of those drains from us through a good nights sleep. 

So we’ll be in touch tomorrow from Arusha...
