Hope you enjoyed the walk out, you know that path pretty well by now! Hope you will be reading this in Kathmandu, if you get stuck in Lukla though, remember that Chris managed to pass a few hours playing pool against the locals last year! The mind boggles as to how those enormous billiard tables found their way to Lukla.
Look forward to hearing about you signing your name at the rum doodle!
Another glorious weekend here in Sydney, Chris was swimming at the beach today.

Hi Paul,

They must reserve the good rooms with an ensuite at the AT lodge in Lukla for Everest Climbers! Everest Trekkers like Dame and I were relegated to the standard rooms. Well, our room did have a view of the runway which was interesting.

Had they started breaking down base camp? When were P Temba due to leave Base Camp?

Have a fun flight back to KTM,

Glad you have made it down to Lukla - you sound healthy, happy and relaxed! Enjoy it - you deserve it! If you wouldn't mind, I have a favour to ask of you. When you finally make it to the Rumdoodle to sign that famous wall, we were wondering if you could take a picture with our flag? We realize conditions were less than ideal for pics on your summit day (and the last thing you were thinking about was rummaging through your pack for that darn QE flag!), so, before you leave Nepal, maybe you could take just one last shot with it?? We would be very grateful - you have no idea how many times the kids have asked me about that flag!! Thanks, Paul.

So glad your expedition bag met up with you. Have a safe flight out of Lukla and I hope you get a flight out of Kathmandu quickly (I just said the same thing to Pat Hickey)! Btw, I believe I heard a yak in the background on your blog from Lukla. Enjoy signing the wall at Rumdoodles....so deserved!!!!

You're right MC: there is definitely a yak in that recording - its call kicks in (it outrage?!) right after Paul says "yak steak". *chortle* Glad to hear you sounding so happy and relaxed Paul: you guys enjoy yourselves and RELAX. I'm actually glad you lost your gear bag temporarily: couple of days together without having to post to the outside world wouldn't have hurt at all. ;)

Maybe I"m imaging this, but you sound differently than I've ever heard you before - like a weight has been lifted off your shoulders. I can just imagine the spring in your step (and Fiona's) as the two of you head back to Kathmandu and then home. I cannot speak for everyone, but it's a relief for me too! I know some people try three or more times before they ever get to the top of Everest, but I'm so glad you didn't have to leave this time before getting your summit! You worked SO hard AND you were extremely prepared. You took nothing for granted. I'm just so happy for you! And, thanks again for letting us be a part!

Hi By this time you will hopefully be in katmandu and away from the peacefull Himalaya region. A few toots, hawkers etc and you may you were back there!! I think we stayed in the rooms you had in Lukla - very nice but as there was so much cloud cover and they use solar power for heating hot water - no showers. Another day, another shower. Don't forget to check out our foot at Rumdoodle too - on the stiarway going up to the outside terrace. Fiona I don't think they would expect you there a third time!!. Enjoy it all. Is Thailand on the itinerary or is it straight home?? Love Mum xx

It sounds as if you two have had a much more leisurely and comfortable trek down the mountain compared to the trek up.

I hope those planes don't come in too low over your lodge!!
