So nice to see Karen's Pretty Face

Hi Everyone. What a great surprise to see the photo of my dear friend Karen's face this morning with a HUGE gorgeous mountain behind her. Boy, it just doesn't seem real what someone can accomplish after such a difficult battle. You all are such survivors and fighters. Just amazing. Marty and Phyllis and the rest of the team my family is thinking of you and wishing you strength, health and endurance.

Hi Sharon! So cool to be

Hi Sharon!
So cool to be able to write to you!
I have been thinking about you every day, usually more than once. :)
I am sure you are having an incredible time, so I will just wish you good weather...the rest (stamina, pride in yourself, awe, appreciation for life, etc.) I'm certain will happen on its own!
Love, love, love,
Karen

Phyllis & Marty

I was so relieved to hear your voices on the live update today. We were worried when the update the other day was that the "older ones" were having a hard time and we had no more info.
We are all thinking about you and wishing you good luck with the climb. We're glad to hear that you are enjoying yourselves so much and it was great seeing the picture of Phyllis floating in the water posted on the website. We love you!
Rachel, Jeff, Steve and everyone in the family

To the Top of Africa - JOI Rocks!!

Enjoying reading and listening to you guys every day.
Only one problem: I wish I were there with you guys.

Rick, Terry, Sharon, Marty, Phyllis,
Bonnie, Matt, Karen, and Jon.

Keep Strong! and enjoy the climb and the whole experience.

We're all routing for ya! To the top of the mountain.

So much is coming back from our climb last year. All the sights
and sounds. All the camaraderie. What a powerfull trip! Can't
wait to hear all your stories.

And Matt, I have to second Carroll:

"The '08 Machame group rules!"

For Marty & Phyllis: Sooo good to hear your voices, Mom and Dad!

I'm with Rachel! There was a flurry of messages amongst those of us down hear at sea level when we heard Bonnie's report that there had been some challenges along the way. Can you blame us for worrying just a little? :-) So relieved to hear your voices with their usual enthusiasm and vitality. It sounds as if you're appreciating every moment. I admire you both, and am so proud!
News from Home: Sam just got his braces! I'd love to send you a picture of your grandson and his metal-mouth chompers, but we'll have to be patient for your return. Pictures from the bar mitzvah have just arrived — can't wait to share those, too! David is spending most of his free time learning to play his new electric guitar — he's loving it! We had dinner with Pete and Leigh two nights ago, who are awed by your undertaking, and send their love.
So sorry to read that you've been feeling lonely. I had actually posted two messages (or so I thought) in response to earlier updates. Turns out I had only *previewed* them! Anyway, be sure to catch the posts from yesterday, in response to the previous audio update. And now that we have the technical gremlins licked, you'll be hearing from us more frequently!
Sending you big WARM hugs to ward off the evening chills. WE LOVE YOU!
Jeff, Lori, Sam, David... Rachel, Jeremy, Daniel, Joshua, Miriam, Rebecca... Steve, Gail, Eliana... And ALL of us who are thinking of you and cheering you on with every step!

For Bonnie

Hi Bonnie, just testing the system to see if I am getting through. Stay strong .... love you

Saying Hello

Hi Mom & Dad,
Writing here from my desk...still at work. It sounds like you are having a wonderful time! I am so glad. The big news here for me is I finally bought
my NEW CAR!! In fact, I bought two cars!!

So, here is the deal: I went in with the intention of buying one '09 Accord. I ended up purchasing a 2006 Honda Accord (with only 23,000 miles), and my
dream car an S2000 sports car. It is a 2004 with 68,000 miles. The amazing thing in the end is I purchased both cars for less than the cost of one new Accord!

Can't to hear more about your journeys. Play it safe...please! I will get Eliana on line once I get home. Oh, just took a look at the Bat Mitzvah photos online.
They are just wonderful.

If you are able to check it out yourselves....go to www.gelfandpiper.com first.
Then open the Wedding side box. Go to Client pictures, find the Eliana's Bat Mitzvah, type your email in and the password is "Eliana"

Love you both!!
Steve

Keith

Keith,
From today's message sounds like all is going well. A little cold is it? The picture yesterday was beautiful with the spectacular Mountain in the background. We are keeping up with your progress. You all are in our thoughts. Have a great climb.

Hello 09ers!!

Here's some advice from a few 08ers...
JUST KEEP WALKING - you can do it.

That's actually really all we have - but it is GREAT advice. Also enjoy every moment and remember each feeling you have up there. You'll never want to forget it!! Keep going!! You can do it!!!

09 Hikers

This is Patty,
This sure brings back memories. I have faith that your journey will be a wonderful experience and you will all love the team effort to get you all at the top. I remember feeling scared about Jack and what his memories he came back with were so worth while. My prayers and thoughts are with each of you, you can do this!! Jack has shared all his hikes with all of you and he keeps saying they all can do this. Enjoy what everyone is telling you, it will mean so much to you in the future. Love Patty

Out of Africa -- "If I know a song of Africa, of the giraffe, and the African new moon lying on her back, of the ploughs in the fields, and the sweaty faces of the coffee pickers, does Africa know a song of me? would the air over the plain quiver with a color that I had on...?"
I went for a three hour walk today on your behalf -- and thought about Africa -- from the movies I have seen. When I came back I couldn't wait to take a shower. And wondered how you...?
Desi and Alex -- don't be too cold -- HUG! body heat!

Megan

Just wanted to let you know that I am checking in everyday and enjoying the updates. It sounds like everything is going great; Im soo happy for you. I miss you very much. Love, Greg.

Megan!!!

I just read the update about Ryan! So disappointed for him- that must have been so hard for all of you!! I hope he is ok- does he have any way of getting in touch with your parents? Hopefully I can get further updates from them! So now you and Sal have to do it for RYAN, too! GO GO GO!! Love ya!

Keith

Have I told you lately that I love my job? Well I do. All is well here. You take care of yourself and the gang. We can't wait to hear all about it.

Joan

Hi Bonnie!

It was great to get your audio message--I think about you and your fellow climbers every day, and I think of Gareth's spirit climbing with you. Godspeed.
Sending much love from
Margaret, John, Bryn, and Catrin

Hi Jennie

How's the weather in Tanzania? It's cold in Buffalo, low twenties with lots of wind. I imagine it is much colder there, especially at night. Keep treking and enjoy the scenery. It must be amazing. We love you! Love, Susie and family

Megan, Sal and Gang

I thought you might like an update on Ryan; He went to the doctor today for extreme dehydration and was told he made a very wise decision to come down the mountain. He is doing much better and wishes everybody well. I hope all are doing well! Keep on Truckin!
Love
Dad

To All

For all to ponder

I wanted so much to be there with you all that I decided to not take a shower and be just like you. They made me leave work today. They took my poles as they were making marks on the floor and Mary told me to stop going to the bathroom outside. I miss you all especially my hiking buddies. Remember IT'S NOT THE ALTITUDE IT'S THE ATTITUDE. TTYS
