Enjoying your audio updates,

Enjoying your audio updates, Pat. My look at the forecast suggests clear weather with temps 10-20F and winds 10-20 mph for the next two days. I'm sure the weather can change quickly, but hoping for the best conditions.
John

Carol, be sure to send Pat

Carol, be sure to send Pat all our wishes for a safe trip along with thoughts, prayers, continued good luck and good health, stay strong, stay focused, all the good stuff. I read Bonnie's report on what the climb from C4 to Summit would be like. WOW. Something about the view feeling like you could see a half a continent away and some of the offerings at the top of the world. I can't believe the day is almost here. He sounds good. He sure will have a lot to talk about in his Christmas letter this year:) Love you both, Michele and Bill

Hello from Arnold School of Health

Hi Pat,

I was visiting the web site and decided to send you a quick e-mail. We have had graduation and are into Maymester. We are to reach the 90's this week. I am not ready for hot weather - as the old saying goes I can put on more clother that take off. I hope all is going well with you. Ann Cassady, Ken Watkins and I talk about you and are wondering how you are doing. I just listened to you audio and can tell that the air is extremely thin. Please take care and you are in our thoughts and prayers. Hope to see you soon.

Anna

Hi Dr. Hickey,
I have been watching the forecast and hope that the weather continues to treat you kindly! Keep pushing the fluids and take care of yourself!! You know that - afterall, nurses are the best (but stubborn)... I will keep checking on your progress daily! Good luck and God speed.

It's Your Turn!

Hey Pat,

Your doing it my man!! All your hard work and dedication is going to pay off!! This is where you have to dig down deep! Just like any Sport...you have to work through the pain. One step at a time...But just be smart about it! Make sure you give yourself enough time to turnaround if you have to too!
Really pushing for you!!

This is amazing stuff!!

Bonnie - Denver

Hey Pat - I am in the "wow" state like everyone else. You are really showing the passion of nursing at its PEAK! You sound much better prepared and cool, calm and collected in comparison to the last time in April when you got to Camp 3 (so you are either not telling us how hard it was, or you were better prepared since you had made it before). Now comes the path you have not done before. I am glad you are wearing O2 and you sound like you are thinking clearly. Know that I am wishing you and Carol all the best frommy heart to yours. Go Pat Go! I am also thinking of Paul as he should be getting to the Summit or coming down soon.
Bonnie

pat .paul summited a few minutes ago. [ken.nz]

WOW! You're Almost There!

Hi Pat,

I've had a lot of fun reading your blog everyday. It's amazing and comforting to be able to hear your wonderful voice and know that you sound strong and good! My daily prayers continue with you. I know that reaching the summit is not a "given" but a hard, and carefully earned achievement.

Have to tell you that I stopped at the Talladega track on my way to visit family in Winfield, Alabama this weekend. I was in search of child-size tees for my little fella who likes drivers Kasey Kahne and Carl Edwards. The only drivers represented in the gift shop with child sizes were your Jeff Gordon and Tony Stewart and Dale Jr. So, my cousin, who is retired from NASCAR is helping me out.

I can't wait to hear your audio message that you've reached the summit. I'll be even more relieved to hear that you've safely made the descent and are on your way back home to us. We love you!

Godspeed

You continue in our thoughts and prayers as you approach the summit. Thank you for the example you have set for the students in the USC Nursing program! You have instilled in them the value of setting goals and reaching beyond themselves.

Pat, as we've stated before,

Pat, as we've stated before, we are pulling for you and praying for you. May God keep you all in His hands and safe at all times. We, at helen Grace's farm discuss you and your endeavours every weekend and often during the week
Go Sens Go!

Sounding strong

Hi Pat,
You and Mike sound great on the Audioblog - very strong and breathing well. Continued good climbing and I hope the winds up high decrease some for you. Email from Fiona a short time ago said Paul was on top, so I guess you're next. Stay strong and safe. I'll be glued to the blog again tomorrow!
Jean

Bonnie - Denver

uh oh, second posting today - but can't resist. I am thinking you may be on your way as I type. Just checked to see that Paul made it - glad to get the play by play with Fiona helping out. Can't wait to hear more of your progress. Have fun (I hope it is somewhat fun for you - but can't really imagine it with what you are enduring). Hope Carol is doing okay as it is hard on all of us waiting and watching the blogs - can't imagine how she is doing!
All the best in going for it!
Bonnie

wow! Nearly there!

G00d luck tomorrow. We are all thinking of you and waiting for the news of your great triumph ! A special kiss for Mike ---- All our love and thoughts to you all - Pauline & Mike (N.Z)

Good Luck

Hi Pat & Team,

Best of luck to you all! Take care in the journey that promises your own beautiful moment at the top of the world. It's your time!

Godspeed,
Liz

Bonnie Denver

Repeat posting from April - I think I posted this when you were at camp 3 last time? this U2 message and lyrics seems to fit - we are all one, plugging for you - somehow for me this brings us back to nursing and the unity we have for each other to seek the higher ground of healing - whatever that is for each of us
Okay- when you are back from the summit and heading for lower ground, I will repeat posting from Jimmy Buffet? - more to come
Bonnie
Too late - Tonight - To drag the past out into the light
We're one, but we're not the same
We get to -Carry each other
Carry each other
One...
Have you come here for forgiveness
Have you come to raise the dead
Have you come here to play Jesus
To the lepers in your head

Did I ask too much - More than a lot
You gave me nothing -Now it's all I got
We're one But we're not the same
Well we Hurt each other
Then we do it again
You say Love is a temple
Love a higher law Love is a temple
Love the higher law You ask me to enter
But then you make me crawl
And I can't be holding on To what you got
When all you got is hurt
One love
One blood
One life
You got to do what you should
One life
With each other
Sisters
Brothers
One life
But we're not the same
We get to
Carry each other
Carry each other
One...life
One

How's it going? I went to

Positive thoughts

I'm sending you lots of positive thoughts and prayers for a successful climb....stay safe.

Way to go, Pat!

We wish you the best of luck getting to the summit. It is really amazing to think that you are now so close to a goal you have been working on for so long! Our prayers for your successful completion continue. Go Pat!

Let's ramp up the fund

Pat - Does your scholarship goal have a deadline? I hope not because I am working to get the word out amongst the nursing blogging community. I've contacted a prominent nurse blogger about announcing this info on her blog and am hoping it will bring some attention to the summit scholarship. I'll let you know when she posts the info. keeping climbing and reaching the stars. Gina Griffin, Hartford, CT

Keep going!!

Hi Dr. Hickey,

your audioblog is so clear!! I am so excited for you and can't imagine the view you will shortly be seeing!!!! Kepp going!!

Sincerely,
Ashley Towery

Scholarship deadline

Gina had asked about a deadline for the Summit Scholarship. The scholarship will be accessible to build to goal level for a five-year period. That's good news, but it also means we don't have all the time in the world.

We can do it though! Pat believes it. This College believes it. You all do too and so many of you have already played a part in building this legacy. One dollar for every foot!

Thanks to all who have helped spread the word about Pat, about this scholarship, and how important it is to have good nurses on your side of the mountain.

Liesl

Thanks Liesl

That's wonderful news Liesl. Thanks for your reply. I am glad to hear we have a little time - I know it will happen. I am a grad of the USC college of Journalism but am also a second semester nursing student here in CT. Thanks for clarifying. Go Cocks and GO PAT - Gina Griffin, Hartford, CT

Stay Strong!

Hi Pat and Carol,

Hugs to you both! Know this time is really exciting and we all can't wait for Pat's news from the top. What a testimony to personal dedication, strength, encouragement, love and committment both of you have shown us. Thanks for sharing this blog with us so that we can all experience your special moment.

Paula

Go Pat!!!

Hi Pat,
I have been watching the news updates at the ice8000 site and the last one was 3AM your time and all wqere at the balcony. I'm hoping you are included in the "all". I hope the winds are subdued enough for you to make the summit...and perhaps you already have. Be strong. Be safe. I'll be wearing out the refresh button tonight!
Jean

Pat's on the summit

Pat just called and reported that he was on the summit (@9:30am Nepal time). They departed @9:30pm on Wed night. He said it was a beautiful morning but very cold and windy. He couldn't talk much as he was on oxygen and the winds were high. I asked if they had all summitted and he said he thought yes. He said Mikey was there with him. Wendy, I wish I had your number to call you but maybe you will see this post. Pat will be reporting with an audio blog when he returns to Camp 4 or lower. Thanks to everyone for your support & all your well wishes to Pat and me. I'm off to bed for a better sleep than I've had in a few days! Thank you God!
Carol

Go, Baby!!!

Pat, Mike, Mike, Rob, Anna, Ben and Tori,
"Go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I'm sitting here yelling at the computer. I want so desperately for you guys to make it. Having just been there myself (as you know), I am intimately familiar with how extremely difficult it is. And the descent is all the battle.... it doesn't count if you make it up but don't make it down. Be dilligent. Boil up as much as possible at camp 4 before the descent. Keep your feet warm and dry. Stay focused. I'm thinking about you guys......

Bonnie in Denver

Here's to Wendy and Carol for keeping us informed! Yea Mike and Pat! Yea for all who are following along and supporting the teams on Everest. I can imagine how exhausting it is to be climbing in the wind and the elements (whether too much sun or wind chill). I figured all was well, even though we did not have a new blog posted yet. Safety is first, going "public" with the blog is definitely down the list a bit. Here's to a safe descent and many celebrations! My heart is with you!
Bonnie

Congratulations!!!

Pat,
I am so excited for you....I dreamed about mountain climbing all last night, I don't feel I've slept a wink. After talking with Carol, I checked the blog up until around 11:30 and finally had to go to bed. I am so proud of you!!!! SEVEN SUMMITS COMPLETED!!! What a statement!!! Now, hurry up and come back, I could have used you on Tuesday in one of my panel hearings!!! Be safe and thanks Carol for the update!!!
