Hello Everyone, it's Pat here coming to you from Camp 4 on the South Col at 7950m. This is a quick update in case you couldn't access the audio update below. In short we were exhausted when we arrived last night and so we have delayed our summit until around 8pm this evening (Sunday night - 10.15pm Perth time). If we can do it we think it should take around 10-12 hours to get up there.

At the moment the skies are clear and the wind moderately strong, although it's about -25 degrees C. As long as the winds remain light we'll be good to go.

I should also point out that the views are magnificent, especially out to the west over Pumori and towards Cho Oyu and Shishapangma - who would have thought, after all of these years I'm at the South Col, one of the most infamous locations in mountaineering, except I'm spending my time here resting up, not really taking in the locale.

The only other factor is me - I was very, very tired coming up to C4 yesterday, so I hope I can recover enough today. The oxygen I'm breathing at the moment is helping. I also had problems with cold toes yesterday, I hope I can keep them warm enough on our push.

I haven't been able to download messages for the past few days but here on the South Col we're about as close to space as you can get, so this morning I had good satellite coverage and I got all of them. The support from all of you has been overwhelming (I've also been laughing at a few of the comments), it really has meant so much to have all of you behind us and I'll be thinking of all of you very warmly as we head up, and hoping that all of your best wishes and love give me the extra strength that I desperately need.

After yesterday's efforts I know that the final push for the summit will be extremely hard - all I can do is give it my best. Thanks again and I send all of my love to you from up here on the edge of the world xxxx

Best of weather

Hi Patty,

I'm so excited for you after listening to your last audio blog at camp 4. A quick update all your tetras are still alive and the barb is still a bully! There is a spot reserved for you in the master bedroom of the 'colossus' jayco dove at a beach of your choice when you return to WA. All the best on the summit attempt and don't forget the ice pick point.

Good weather mate.

Geoff, Jas & the A Brig.

Enjoying your very balanced reporting of your trip. I really feel for you and your fatigue, and hope you can see beyond it tonight and push on...toes permitting of course.
Whatever happens, you will have such fantastic memories, both of what you have seen around you, and within you.
