Arrival and tour in Kathmandu

Have arrived in Kathmandu and today went on tour to couple of monastries to experience local culture. Well I certainy did in that we witnessed a public cremation! Certainly an eye opener but its apart of the local culture. Felt very freaked out watching but in another way glad to experience it. The monastries were also a great way to see the faith of the nepalese people. The traffic is chaos, the noise of the city numbing but excited in the prospect of starting the trek tomorrow. The plan is to leave early in the morning with a flight to Lukla and then that's where the hard work starts. But for now its off to the swimming pool to cool down as its around 30 degrees. Kathmandu is certainly a unique city. But I suspect I haven’t experienced anything yet until we get into the mountains.

I am now logged onto the system and have realised that you probably haven't got any of my text messages....I have replied to your messages but you will probably get these on your return. I don't think i have the right international dialling code (or something).

Anyway, back to the grind today, however I have realised that i can access this sight from work so that should make things a bit more interesting. Everyone here has had a look at the web....and apart from thinking your a bit of a nerd in your socks and sandles, wish you all the very best!!

Glad to hear that you got their ok and have been having a good time. Kmdu would have been very interesting and i wish I was there with you!!

Anyway, i just wanted to send you a quick email to let you know that I'm thinking about you and wanted to wish you all the best for the start of your journey. I look forward to hearing from you & i miss you....

Just logged on Kade and checked out your stuff, sounds like you're in for a big adventure-how exciting!

Cory says...beware the "abdominal" snowman (apparently he is very hairy - particular his tummy)... she wants pictures!!

Cory also says.....The quickest way you're getting down that mountain is to strap on those sandles and socks!!

Cory (aka confuscious) says....don't forget the snatch strap....

Nicky says...she doesn't want to see your everest...save that for when you get home!!
