It was just another Galapagos start. We landed in a remote island 600 miles from land. The giant prickly bear cactus contrasted against the blue sky and wonderful colors of the surrounding sea, tuquoise to inky deep blue. After an orientation center visit, we departed shore in sea kayaks. 3,000 miles to the next land, the waves rolled in 20 yards apart. Can you say intimidating? The sea lions were the stars of the day. They are unfraid. They lay on the beach right in front of the hotel. They appear out of nowhere right next to the kayak...they lay on the docks... amazing to be here. Yesterday we were in snow at home.
