I want to inspire the young people of Newfoundland and Labrador, the province in which I live. I have carried the Newfoundland flag to the highest points in North and South America, the summits of Mount McKinley and Aconcagua. Upon my return to sea level each time, I realized that I was in a unique position to inspire and influence the youth of Newfoundland and Labrador to become more physically active and to follow their dreams.
With this mission in mind, I set an even higher goal for myself, the tallest peak in the world. During the spring of 2007, after 21 months of intense physical training, I will attempt to climb Mount Everest hoping to take the province’s flag to the top of the world. I leave for Nepal on March 17, 2007. As part of the mission of TA's Everest-007, I will have spoken to over 10,000 children before beginning the trek into Everest Base Camp.
